Observation Notes

Field Journal Excerpts

Recent entries from club skywatch sessions, recorded in the same calm format we use in our shared logbook.

24 October 2026

Sky conditions
Clear horizon with brief passing haze after dusk.
Observation target
The Pleiades and neighboring Taurus star field.

Note: New visitors settled quickly once we traced the cluster shape together. The group stayed quietly focused, and several members returned to compare what they saw with earlier notes.

11 October 2026

Sky conditions
Thin cloud bands early, opening to steadier dark skies later.
Observation target
Andromeda Galaxy with surrounding autumn constellations.

Note: We took extra time for dark adaptation and then compared naked-eye and telescope views. The slower pace helped beginners feel confident asking questions and sharing first impressions.

28 September 2026

Sky conditions
Calm evening air with mild glow near the western edge of town.
Observation target
Saturn, then a brief sweep through Capricornus.

Note: Saturn drew a long, patient line at the eyepiece. Members noted how different the planet feels when revisited across the season, with steadier seeing giving a more relaxed, detailed view.
